15^th Annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Fishing Tournament / Fund Raiser Reels in Fun, Fish, and Funds

The much needed rain held off until the end of three days of breezy fall weather which brought out families and 147 registered anglers (up from135 last year) at the 15^th annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Fishing Tournament and Fund Raiser. The tournament began at 12:01 a.m., Friday, October 7, and ran through 2 p.m., Sunday, October 9^rd when final weights were tallied and prizes awarded.

A total of 113 official fish (up from 100 last year and 83 in 2009) were weighed in over the weekend and were generally lighter than last year’s entries. Speckled Trout were hard to find again this year. The final results of the tournament are as follows:

In the Adult Division:

Redfish

1^st Place – Darrell Mueck with a fish weighing in at 7.37 lbs.

2^nd Place – Steve Andel with a fish weighing in at 7.36 lbs.

3^rd Place – Billy Huett with a fish weighing in at 6.89 lbs.

Speckled Trout

1^st Place – Lou Crutcher with a fish weighing in at 3.64 lbs.

2^nd Place – Josh Schulte with a fish weighing in at 2.79 lbs.

3^rd Place – Candice Griffin with a fish weighing in at 2.74 lbs.

Flounder

1^st Place – Gary Perkins with a fish weighing in at 3.33 lbs.

2^nd Place – Josh Schulte with a fish weighing in at 3.32 lbs.

3^rd Place – Ray Pierson with a fish weighing in at 3.23 lbs.

Croaker

1^st Place – Hank Hethcock with a fish weighing in at 1.42 lbs.(entered first)

2^nd Place – Earnie Aaington with a fish weighing in at 1.42 lbs.

3^rd Place – Brian Delany with a fish weighing in at 1.41 lbs.

Heaviest Stringer – Roger Friedrichs with a stringer weighing in at 20.7 lbs.

Redfish with the Most Spots –Billy Huett whose fish had 16 spots

1^st Place – Kale Kram with a fish weighing in at 6.44 lbs.

2^nd Place – Kale Kram with a fish weighing in at 5.82 lbs.

3^rd Place – Kale Kram with a fish weighing in at 5.61 lbs.

Speckled Trout

1^st Place – Kale Kram with a fish weighing in at 1.75 lbs.

2^nd Place – Kale Kram with a fish weighing in at 1.10 lbs.

3^rd Place – No fish was entered

Flounder

1^st Place – Jake Davis with a fish weighing in at 5.33 lbs.

2^nd Place – Andrew Lima with a fish weighing in at 2.05 lbs.

3^rd Place – Andrew Lima with a fish weighing in at 2.02 lbs.

Croaker

1^st Place – Clayton Davis with a fish weighing in at 1.45 lbs.

2^nd Place – Alex Lima with a fish weighing in at 1.31 lbs.

3^rd Place – Alex Lima with a fish weighing in at 0.97 lbs.

Largest Hardhead Catfish – Canaan Moers with a fish weighing in at 0.88 lbs.

Heaviest Blue Crab – Alex Lima with a Crab of 0.45 lbs.

Largest Sand / Gulf Trout – Colby Locke with a fish weighing in at 1.48 lbs.

Redfish with the Most Spots – Clayton Davis whose fish had 3 spots

New Category Heavy Stinger – No stringer was entered
