For
immediate release. Please announce the following not-for-profit event results:
The sixth
annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off fund raiser, held May
2 – 3, 2009 at 12070 F.M. 2918, brought the community two days of good food and
family fun and added funding for community outreach projects (fireworks for July
4, Santa project for the kids in December, and many other small projects
throughout the year).
A record number of cook-off teams (15)
entered this year and the weather cooperated so that a great number of the
community turned out to eat the food – both Saturday (stuffed baked potatoes)
and Sunday (Bar-B-Q plates). The winning teams are as follows, but please visit

wishes to congratulate all the winners for their hard work, great tasting free
samples, and their contributions to the department. They were pleasantly
surprised that a majority of the winning teams contributed their winnings back
to the department! WOW! R.E.V.F.D. would also like to thank Johnny Handley and
Russell Reynolds for orchestrating a successful auction on Saturday.
Big thanks to the businesses and people that contributed Items for our
auction. Thanks also go out to all members and nonmembers who worked to make it
enjoyable for all. And an extra big thanks to the community for coming out to
support the department -R.E.V.F.D. could not exist without community support. In
a year when the economy is struggling, the community stepped up and is
responsible for the best cook-off fund raiser to date. It was a good day in the
neighborhood! See you next year!
