12th Annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Fishing Tournament / Fund Raiser Reels in Fun, Fish, and Funds

12^th Annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Fishing Tournament / Fund Raiser Reels in Fun, Fish, and Funds

Hurricane Ike stormed in and tore up the River’s End Volunteer Fire Department banner across FM 2918 but it could not dampen the spirit of family and community during the 12^th annual fishing tournament and fund raiser. The tournament began at 12:01 a.m., Friday, October 3, and ran through 2 p.m., Sunday, October 5^th when final weights were tallied and prizes awarded.

A total of 103 fish were weighed in over the weekend and for every category, a winning fish was entered. The final results of the tournament are as follows:

In the Adult Division:

Redfish

1^st Place – Joe Teague with a fish weighing in at 7.30 lbs.

2^nd Place – Ronnie Wingo with a fish weighing in at 6.94 lbs.

3^rd Place – Ron Gaylor with a fish weighing in at 6.52 lbs.

Speckled Trout

1^st Place – Jamie Hinsley with a fish weighing in at 5.52 lbs.

2^nd Place – Michael Vincent with a fish weighing in at 4.22 lbs.

3^rd Place – Dusty Bolton with a fish weighing in at 3.00 lbs.

Flounder

1^st Place – Dusty Bolton with a fish weighing in at 5.64 lbs.

2^nd Place – John Bodenman with a fish weighing in at 3.96 lbs.

3^rd Place – Chad Lowry with a fish weighing in at 3.86 lbs.

Croaker

1^st Place – Mike Jankowiak with a fish weighing in at 1.46 lbs.

2^nd Place – Larry Jensen with a fish weighing in at 1.36 lbs.

3^rd Place – Billy Jensen with a fish weighing in at 1.32 lbs.

Heaviest Stringer – Roger Fredricks with a stringer weighing in at 19 lbs.

Redfish with the Most Spots - Nelson Taylor whose fish had 15 spots

1^st Place – Shelby Anderson with a fish weighing in at 5.68 lbs.

2^nd Place – Anthony Smith Jr. with a fish weighing in at 5.48 lbs.

3^rd Place – Shelby Anderson with a fish weighing in at 4.52 lbs.

Speckled Trout

1^st Place – Mitch Graham with a fish weighing in at 1.84 lbs.

2^nd Place – Anthony Smith Jr. with a fish weighing in at 1.72 lbs.

3^rd Place – Austin Smith with a fish weighing in at 1.68 lbs.

Flounder

1^st Place – Jacy Metcalf with a fish weighing in at 4.90 lbs.

2^nd Place – Jacy Metcalf with a fish weighing in at 2.86 lbs.

3^rd Place – Shelby Anderson with a fish weighing in at 2.48 lbs.

Croaker

1^st Place – Austin Smith with a fish weighing in at 1.58 lbs.

2^nd Place – Austin Smith with a fish weighing in at 0.96 lbs.

3^rd Place – Anthony Smith Jr. with a fish weighing in at 0.82 lbs.

Largest Hardhead Catfish – Craig Lowry with a fish weighing in at 1.00 lbs.

Heaviest Blue Crab – Wade Franklin with a Crab of 0.68 lbs.

Largest Sand / Gulf Trout – Jeramiah Holmes with a fish weighing in at 1.40 lbs.

Redfish with the Most Spots – Jacy Metcalf whose fish had 5 spots
