15th Annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Fishing Tournament set to reel in fun, fish, and funds

River’s End Volunteer Fire Department announces its 15th annual fishing tournament and the department’s largest fundraiser for the year on the first full weekend of October. The tournament begins at 12:01 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7, and runs through 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9.

Fish can be caught anywhere in public waters, but must be weighed in at the River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 1, located at 12070 F.M. 2918.

Tournament applications are available upon request by contacting: Tournament Chairmen, Roy Edwards at (979) 964-4332, or David Woodall at (979) 482-7753 or Kitty Handley at (979) 964-4260 and will be available at 12070 F.M. 2918 on Thursday 5: 30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Applications and rules can also be downloaded from: www.revfd.com. We’ll see you at the end of the river.

Weigh in times are: Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

If you don’t fish, but you would still like to support the fire department, you can come for the Saturday events at Station 1.

Bar-B-Q sandwiches and chips will be available starting at noon until 2 p.m. (or until they are gone) for a donation of $7. An auction will begin at 1 p.m. featuring 2 custom rods and reels (donated by Billy Huett) and much more.

For the women in the crowd, there will also be a Scentsy booth featuring a new Fireman’s warmer provided by Connie Webb.

All proceeds from the sale of Scentsy items on Saturday, or from her open party for R.E.V.F.D. on her website https://conniewebb.scentsy.us/Home, will go to the River’s End Volunteer Fire Dept.

On Sunday at 2 p.m. the final fish will be weighed in and prizes will be awarded. While the final fish tallies are taking place, anglers can tell their hard luck tales for a chance at the Tim Austin Memorial Hard Luck Tale award.

Raffle drawings will be held for a 20’ tapered aluminum flag pole with a 3’ x 5’ flag (donated by Rick Gardner of Gardner and Martin), a silver chain with a custom silver jig head with ruby eyes (donated by Kenzie & Co. Jewelers), a custom fishing rod and reel (donated by Billy Huett), or a $400 Academy gift card (donated by David and Tracy Woodall and R.E.V.F.D.).

Raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each or 5 for $20 up until the drawing from R.E.V.F.D. fishing tournament committee persons.
