River’s End Volunteer Fire Department plans BBQ fundraiser

The sixth annual River’s End Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off fund-raiser will be held May 2– 3 at 12070 F.M. 2918. R.E.V.F.D. invites the public to come down for the food and family fun.

Everyone is invited to join in the full weekend of fun and good food for a good cause. Open cooking, an auction (2 p.m.) and a dance from 8 p.m. until midnight (featuring Anthony Smith) will be held Saturday, May 2. The department will also serve stuffed baked potatoes (bet ’cha can’t eat a whole one) for a $7 donation on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. until they are gone.

Sunday’s (May 3) activities include the cook-off contest judging and a BBQ plate lunch available for $7 from noon until 2 p.m., or until the food is gone. To-go plates will be available. There will also be a raffle drawing.

Moon walks, donated by R.A.D. Party Rentals, will be available for children all day, both Saturday and Sunday.

Cook-off teams can still enter, but their entry forms must be received by May 2, before they start cooking. The entry fee is $25 per category entry (categories being brisket, ribs, chicken and – new this year – beef fajitas).

For entry forms and more information, visit www.revfd.com or call Al Roth at (979) 235-0010 or Darrell Powell at (979) 964-4028.
